Jimmie J. Risden, 70, of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 17, 1939 in Oneida, TN to James and Roxie (McGhee) Risden. He attended Oneida Public Schools before coming to Monroe when he was 16 years old. On June 29, 1963, he married the love of his life, Shirley C. Kilgus, in Monroe.
Jimmie was employed by Operating Engineers, Local #324, Michigan, as a heavy equipment mechanic and attended the First Wesleyan Church in Monroe.
He enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling, loved bird watching, camping and fishing, and especially spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
As well as his wife, Shirley, he is survived by a son; David, daughters; Robin Reagan and Roxan Rodriguez, all of Monroe, a brother; Bill (Beverly) Risden of Livingston, TX, a sister; Mary Byrd of Monroe, 2 grandsons; Matthew (Amanda) Rodriguez and Lucas Rodriguez, and a great grandson; Matthew Rodriguez II.
Sadly, his parents, 3 brothers; Jessie, Pitney, and James Risden, 3 sisters; Bessie Hillard, and Wilma and Nancy Risden, and a son-in-law; John Reagan all preceded him in death.
Private family services will be held, conducted by Rev. Paul C. Roemer of First Wesleyan Church, Monroe, with burial in Rath Cemetery, Monroe. The Bacarella Funeral Home was privileged to assist the family with all arrangements.
Memorial gifts in Jimmie's name may be given to the First Wesleyan Church, Monroe.
