Obituary

Jimmie B. Carmon, 71 years, of LaSalle, MI passed away Friday, March 12, 2010 at 4:41 PM in the Emergency Room at Mercy Memorial Hospital. Jim had been in declining health for the past 2 years and seriously ill for the past month. Jim was born February 6, 1939 in Monroe, MI the son of the late Robert J. "Abe" and Hazel Mae (Loop) Carmon. Jim attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1957 graduate of Monroe High School. Jim served his country honorably and proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam War. On December 19, 1981 in Monroe, Jim married his beloved wife the former Delores J. Bohmer. Jim was employed by Ford Motor Company's Monroe Plant for 38 years until his retirement in 2000. Jim was a member of the Monroe Lodge #27 F&AM and the Moslem Shrine in Detroit, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the American Legion – Lynn C. Weeman Post 514 in Ida. Jim enjoyed genealogy and most of all his family. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Delores, his son Jimmy (Mary Ann) Carmon of New Mexico, 2 cherished grandchildren; Sarah Salisbury and Scott Ballantyne, 2 treasured great grandchildren; Kyle Salisbury and Alyssa Ballantyne, 1 brother; Gary L. (Kim) Carmon of Monroe and several nieces and newphews. In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by 2 sons; Robert and Brian Carmon, a step daughter Sheila Ballantyne and 3 brothers Harold, Grover and Glenn Carmon. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-8 PM and on Monday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 1:00 PM also at the Bacarella Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenny Spain, Associate Pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Historic Woodland Cemetery where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct Military Honors.
