Jewell H. Bosenbark, 86, a Sixty-three year member of the Monroe Alliance Church was welcomed into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Thursday, February 17, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
Born May 12, 1924 in Speedwell, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mattie (Turner) Heck. She came to Monroe in 1945.
Jewell was a 1942 graduate of Powell Valley High School in Tennessee. She was a skilled cook, and was renowned for her hand-mixed gravy. She worked in the cafeteria at River Raisin Paper Company, Mercy Hospital, and retired in 1988 from the cafeteria at Ford Stamping Plant in Monroe. She proudly boasted to her grandchildren of her welding skills acquired during WWII. In 2002 she was named Michigan Homemaker of the Year.
A faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was a Bible Study Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess of 26 years and a follower of God. Her true joy was serving others. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In 1942 Jewell married James Welch. From that union came a daughter, Jimme Fay. Mr. Welch passed away suddenly in 1944. On November 1, 1947 she married Everett R. Bosenbark at the Monroe Alliance Church. From this marriage of 57 years came sons; Samuel G., Duane E. and Charles Gregory. A daughter, Reva, was stillborn in 1966.
She is survived by a daughter; Jimme Faye (Mel) Nieswender of Monroe, sons; Duane E. (Sally) Bosenbark of LaSalle and Gregg Bosenbark of Valparaiso, IN, 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was sadly preceded in death by Mr. Welch in 1944 and Mr. Bosenbark on June 5, 2004. A son, CWO Samuel G. Bosenbark was killed in action in Vietnam on June 6, 1969. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters; Theda Lambert and Mrs. Lavoice Stout.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4-8 PM and Sunday from 1-8 PM at the Bacarella Funeral Home. On Monday, February 21, 2011 she will lie in state at Monroe Alliance Church from 10:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Niles Saunders and Douglas Bleyart will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
