Obituary

Jewel D. Rose, 74, of Monroe, died at 3:35 AM, Thursday, May 3, 2007, in the Mercy Memorial Hospital. She had been in poor health since January and seriously ill since entering the hospital Saturday. She was born May 4, 1932 in Whitley County, Kentucky to Granville and Maggie (Buchanan) Gray. She came to Monroe around 1957 from Kentucky and married Arnold Rose, June 11, 1960, in Whitley County. Sadly, he preceded her in death June 18, 1992. A homemaker, she was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church, a 1986 graduate of Monroe High School, and enjoyed reading, watching soap operas, playing the lottery, and attending Weightwatcher's meetings. Survivors include her 6 sons, Art Ray of Southfield, Granville D. (Beverly) of Monroe, James A. (Debra) of Temperance, Virgel L., Jeffery S., and Kenneth C. (Tonya Lynn) all of Monroe, 3 daughters, Rebecca Hammock of Monroe, Patsy June Thompson of Corbin, Kentucky, and Glenda (Richard) Olson of Monroe, 2 sisters, Julie Gray of Monroe and Ada Mitchell of Corbin, Kentucky, 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. A son, Larry, and 2 brothers and a sister also preceded her in death. Friends may call 10 AM – 3 PM Monday at the Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 3 PM Monday. Pastor Kevin Hosch of Monroe Apostolic Church will officiate and burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
