Jerry Hugh Meadows, age 61, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in his home.

Jerry was born March 18, 1965 in Dunbar, West Virginia, he was the son of Homer Murell and Alita Mearline (Hayes) Meadows. He and his husband Michael Capyak have been together since September 5, 2001.

Jerry earned his nursing degree from Owens Community College and his bachelor’s degree from University of Pheonix. He had worked as a registered nurse at Riverside Hospital, Toledo and Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak before health issues forced him to take a medical disability.

He was an avid reader and loved horror movies and metal music. In recent years he had become a prayer warrior, praying for a hundred people a week and enjoyed giving Bibles to people. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church Monroe.

He is survived by his husband, Michael Capyak; brother, Dana Lyle Meadows; five nieces and nephews, Justynn (Riley) Willingham, Alana (Archie) Rodenbo, Aren (Chelsea) Willingham, Danielle (Thomas) White and Cheyne Willingham and their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Karen Willingham and his twin, Peggy Lee Meadows.

In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, green burial has taken place at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to World Central Kitchen or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
