Jerome A. Vanisacker, age 83 of Monroe, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024 in Fountain View of Monroe.
Born December 6, 1940 in Monroe, he was the son of Raymond and Irma (Staelgraeve) Vanisacker. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1958 and University of Toledo. He married Jan Elizabeth Arnold on September 3, 1960 in Monroe, sadly Jan preceded him in death on March 14, 2024.
Jerome was employed at General Motors Hydromatic Plant, Toledo for 40 years; retiring in 2000.
Jerome was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Belgian-American Club and UAW Local 14. He was an avid sports fan; he especially liked the Detroit Tigers, Michigan Football and was a great supporter of SMCC sports. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports through the years. He was also active in adult softball for many years serving as both a player and a coach. His hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing, bowling, and collecting baseball cards, stamps and coins.
Jerome is survived by his two sons, Rick (Susan) Vanisacker of Monroe and Michael (Craig Bollerud) Vanisacker of Boca Raton, FL; brother, Edward Vanisacker of Monroe; three sisters-in-law, Cheri Duvall, Linda (Frank) Poniedzialek, and Robin (Russ) Matthews, all of Monroe; two grandchildren, Matthew (Kelsey) Vanisacker and Lauren Vanisacker.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Deacon Mike Stewart officiating followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Jerome's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heartland Hospice, physicians and nurses of the ICU at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital and Fountain View of Monroe for the wonderful care given to Jerome during his illness.
