Jerard D. "Jerry" Jorgensen, 69, of Monroe passed away at 2:20pm Tuesday, March 23 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio. He had been seriously ill for the past two months with complications from congestive heart failure. Friends may call from 1pm to 8pm on Friday, March 26 at Bacarella Funeral Home, Monroe, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7pm. He will lie in state beginning at 9am Saturday, March 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church where the Funeral Mass will take place at 10am. Reverend Mark Gawronski and Reverend Terry Kerner will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Born March 13, 1941 in Fort Collins, Colorado, he was the son of Philip and Eleanora (Fabry) Jorgensen. He married Kathleen Sullivan on May 7, 1971 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Dearborn Michigan. Jerry worked as a radiological technologist and administrator, a small business owner, and a real estate agent. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe. He enjoyed golf, bowling, Westerns and World War II movies, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Kathleen; a son, Sean D. (Lisa) Jorgensen of Monroe; a daughter, Erin M. (Phillip) Dress of Toledo, Ohio; and grandchildren, David Dress, Deanna Dress, Rory Jorgensen, and Owen Jorgensen. He is also survived by sisters Trudy (Kenneth) Gargala and Kay Jorgensen, both of Dearborn, Michigan; brothers Philip (Marva) of St. Cloud, Minnesota and Michael (Jane) of Hartford, Wisconsin; 10 nieces and nephews; and many grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Patrick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Central Scholarship Fund, the IHM Retirement Fund, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
