Jennifer Lynn (Burkey) Maksymowski, age 47 of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 25, 2025 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital after becoming very ill the day before.
Born November 28, 1977 in Adrian, MI, Jenni was the daughter of Vincent and Bonnie (Snyder) Burkey. She was baptized and made her First Holy Communion at St. Michael Catholic Church, attended Custer Elementary School, and graduated from Monroe High School in 1995 where she was employed by the Monroe County Prosecutors Office through the school co-op program. Afterward, she worked at Tractor Supply and then took a position at Reed Vision in 1997 where she earned the position of Office Manager. After Reed Vision was acquired by ProMedica, Jenni continued her 28 year career at the ProMedica Wildwood Vitreous Retinal Clinic in Toledo, OH, again earning the position of Office Manager. On October 31, 2024, Jenni married Mark A. Maksymowski in Monroe.
Jenni had a big heart and was always considerate of others before herself. She was a wonderful mother to her two sons, a caring daughter to her parents, caring sister to her brother, special aunt to her niece and nephew, and best friend to her loving husband. She loved the outdoors and spending time at the family cabin up north, traveling with her husband and attending RedBud Motocross Racing events in Buchanon, MI, and supporting Michigan International Speedway's, Toys For Tots toy drive, one of her favorite charities.
Jenni is survived by her husband, Mark; two sons, Cooper and Conner Heck of Monroe; parents, Vince and Bonnie Burkey of Monroe; brother, Scott Burkey of Monroe; nephew, Isaac Burkey; and niece, Abby Burkey. She was preceded in death by stillborn daughter, Kelsey and stillborn brother, Norman.
Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2nd at Bacarella Funeral Home. Jenni will lie in state Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by the church pastor, Rev. Fr. David Burgard, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
