Obituary

Jeffery Paul MacKinnon, 58 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born May 21, 1965 in Rumford, Maine, Jeff was the son of the late Donald Robert and Cora Jane (Voter) MacKinnon. The family moved to Monroe in July of 1967. Jeff was a 1983 graduate of Monroe High School where he lettered in both golf and swimming. After graduating from high school, Jeff enlisted in the United States Marines.
Jeff had a passion for the game of golf. He worked as an assistant professional at Monroe Golf and Country Club, Whiteford Valley Golf Club and at Green Meadows Golf Course. Jeff was an excellent teaching professional as well, helping many in the community enhance their golf skills. He was a former golf coach at Monroe and Ida High School's. Most recently he owned and operated Harbor Dunes Golf Club, Old Town Golf Land, Mack's Indoor Golf and Mulligan's Indoor Golf. He was very involved in junior golf programs, to help kids learn the game he loved so much.
Jeff was a kind hearted man who would help anyone. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Jeff is survived by his loving sister, Diane M. Slatinsky and a loving brother, John W. (Joann) MacKinnon both of Monroe.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by a brother, Donald R. MacKinnon, II, a sister, Jan Teget, and his brother-in-law, Garth Slatinsky.
Memorial contributions are suggested to any junior golf program or to Van Born Baptist Church in Dearborn Heights.
In keeping with Jeff's wishes cremation will be held. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan is assisting Jeff's family with funeral arrangements.
