Obituary

Jeanne Louise Woods, age 95 of Monroe, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Gardens of Carleton.
Born November 18, 1929 in Uhrichsville, OH, Jeanne was the daughter of the late George and Hazel (Staneart) McDermott.
Jeanne was a 1948 graduate of Monroe High School and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she married John C. Woods on April 4, 1959. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time Up North at their cabin in Barton City, MI. Sadly, he preceded her in death on February 24, 2005. She shared her time as a homemaker, wife, and mother by working at K-Mart in Monroe for several years. In her youth, Jeanne was a 9-time champion Ping Pong player.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Deborah (James) Kansier of Monroe, Jeffrey (Marva) Woods of Monroe and Sandra (Kevin) Johnson of Romulus, MI; sister, Amelia (Alan) Dotson of Kingman, AZ; three grandchildren: Christopher Kansier, Jeffrey (Nikki) Kansier, and Kacie (Matt) Stanfill; and nine great-grandchildren, Allie and Quinn Kansier, Jeffrey, Gracie, Joshua and Makenna Kansier; Lily, Maggie and Jack Stanfill.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanne is preceded in death by a son, David Woods; brother, Donald McDermott; and an infant great-grandson, Matthew James Stanfill.
Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation and private burial arrangements through Roselawn Memorial Park.
