Janice E. Edmondson, age 89, formerly from Monroe, peacefully passed away in her Grand Haven home, entering Heaven's gates Saturday morning, July 26, 2025.
Janice was born May 9, 1936 in Monroe, the daughter of Howard and Cora (Moore) Daniels. She married William C. Edmondson November 24, 1955 in Monroe. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in just a few months.
Janice was a 1954 graduate of Monroe High School. She served as secretary to the Monroe County Sheriff for many years before her retirement. She was an active member of the Wesleyan Church of Monroe where for many years she played the piano and organ.
Jan's priority was her family. She cherished the time she spent with them. She also enjoyed traveling, particularly on road trips across the country. She was an avid knitter and loved crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, William, of Grand Haven, three children: Steven (Suzanne) Edmondson of Grand Rapids, Karen (Jim) Davis of Monroe and Kathy (Lance) Parman of Grand Haven, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, half-sister Debbie (Daniels) Rogers, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her three siblings: Melvin Daniels, Douglas Daniels, and Vasile (Daniels) Maddox.
Visitation will be held at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 11AM to 1PM followed by a celebration of life service at 1PM. Jan's nephew, Rev. Larry Maddox, will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Memorial contributions in Janice's honor may be made to Starfysh, a Christian nonprofit organization working among the poor in Haiti.
