James Edward Wiseman, Sr., age 84 of Carleton, MI, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 in his home.

Born August 5, 1942 in Monroe, MI, Jim was the son of the late Charles and Marie (Pickell) Wiseman. He attended St. Patrick Elementary School in Carleton and Monroe High School.

On April 8, 1961, Jim married Kay F. Stone at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Together they raised three children.

Jim’s working career consisted of Mike’s Locksmith, City Auto Stamping in Toledo, OH, Laz-Z-Boy Chair Company, and DTE Energy at the Monroe Power Plant. He worked there for 35 years, retiring as supervisor in 2001. Concurrently, he operated Wiseman Consulting Services as a troubleshooter for various coal burning power plants.

Jim was a member of Monroe Council 1266 Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree member of Raisin River General Assembly 0448, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, and the Powder River Basin Coal Board.

Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kay Wiseman; son, James Wiseman, Jr. of Monroe, MI; daughter, Deanna Taylor of Flat Rock, MI; three siblings: Charles (Bonnie) Wiseman, Michael Wiseman, and Dorothy Wohlfeil; three grandchildren: Cristina (James) Myers, Katherine Paquette, and Joshua Wiseman; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Frank Wiseman; two brothers, Bryon and Timothy Wiseman; and two sisters, Debra Rogers and Sandra Seger.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd at Bacarella Funeral Home. At 1:30 P.M. members of the Knights of Columbus will perform a Litany/Rosary service followed by the 4th Degree Raisin River Assembly presentation. Deacon Mike Stewart will lead a memorial service celebrating Jim’s life at 3:30 p.m. Private interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests supporting Monroe Council 1266 Knights of Columbus.
