Obituary

James R. McClain Jr. age 62 of Monroe, MI passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 11:50 AM in his home. Jim was born January 13, 1945 in Detroit, MI the son of the late James R. and Nettie Ruth (Robbins) McClain Sr. Jim was a 1963 graduate of Taylor Center High School and attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. On February 27, 1976 Jim married Sandra Fay Horsley at the Gilead Baptist Church in Taylor, MI. Jim and Sandra made their home in Brownstown Township, MI for 30 years until moving to Monroe in 2003. Jim worked as a truck driver for White Star Trucking in Lincoln Park and for Jones Transfer Company in Monroe retiring in 1991. Jim was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church where he was very active in the JOYS. Jim was a messenger from Monroe Missionary Baptist Church to the Baptist State Convention of Michigan. Jim enjoyed hunting, traveling, and spending time at his home in the Irish Hills of Michigan. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Sandra, two loving daughters; Valorie K. Morgan of Dearborn Heights, MI and Kristyn E. (John) Roggelin of Deerfield, MI. 3 brothers; Joseph McClain of Trinity, FL, Timothy (Carol) McClain of Stone Mountain, GA and Donald (Kimberly) McClain of Westville, IN. Also surviving are 5 cherished grandchildren. Visitation for Jim will be held on Thursday from 2-9 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home. He will lie in state on Friday, June 15, 2007 from 12 noon until funeral services celebrating his life at 1:00 PM at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.
