James Douglas Huffman, age 73, of Erie, Michigan passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The son of the late Robert Huffman and Erma (Dietch) Moore, James was born on July 8, 1952 in Celina, Ohio. He was a 1970 graduate from Evergreen High School in Metamora, Ohio. He married the love of his life, Carol Stevens in April of 1981 and together they settled down in Toledo, Ohio. They had two daughters, Nichole and Channon.
James worked as a truck driver for Schneider National for many years before his retirement. He was also a longtime member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Sylvania, Ohio.
Anyone who knew James would know how much he loved Ohio State football, reading, and camping. Later in life he found himself greatly enjoying traveling, particularly on cruises with his wife Carol. More than anything else, James cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they truly meant the world to him.
James is survived by his wife Carol; daughters, Nichole Haughn and Channon (Charly) Dominique; siblings, Steve (Bonnie) Huffman, Richard (Debbie) Huffman, Kathy (Don) Moore, and Kim (Frank) Volenik; a special sister in law, Sherry Cook; grandchildren, Dylan Dominique, Marissa (Shane Ottney) Dominique, Presten (Erin) Dominique, Bailey (Maddie Hendricks) Dominique, Parker (Karissa Foley) Dominique, Jennah (Nash Maenle) Dominique, Ryleigh Dominique, Isabella Haughn, Niccole (Austin) Sargent, and Jacob (Marissa Staifer) Haughn; great grandchildren, Ellyza, Vedah, Daegan, AJ, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Maverick; adopted grandchildren. Kyleigh, Bradley, Autumn, and Ashlynn; his god sons, Andrew and Joshua; numerous nieces and nephews, and last but most certainly not least, his special furbaby Tabby.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Huffman, a nephew, Jeff Huffman, and a son in law, Dana Haughn.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorial contributions to honor James’s life be made to King of Glory Lutheran Church in Sylvania, Ohio.
In keeping with James wishes, cremation has taken place and memorial visitation will be held at King of Glory Lutheran Church (6517 Brint Road, Sylvania, OH 43560) on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 7 pm. and Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. The family asks everyone please wear your favorite Ohio State gear on Saturday in honor of Jim’s love for Ohio State Football. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
