James Neil Cotter, 78, of Monroe, died Thursday afternoon in his home. He had been in poor health for several years. He was born March 9, 1928 in Servierville, TN to James R. and Virginia (Blackwelder) Cotter. After serving in the US Air Force he moved to Monroe in the late 1940's. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Woodhaven. Survivors include 3 sons, Stephen (Sonya) of Madison, GA, David of Toledo, and Jonathan (Elizabeth) of Kalamazoo, a daughter, Cheryl of Monroe, 2 brothers, Doug of California and Marlin of Arkansas, and a sister, Betty Shanteau of LaFollette, TN, and 5 grandchildren. His parents, stepfather, William Headrick, brother, David, and 2 sisters, Mary Unesworth and Marjorie Pincheff preceded him in death. Friends may call Monday at the Bacarella Funeral Home from 10 AM – 12 PM.
