James Carl Brewer, age 75, a life long resident of Monroe, MI passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 11:34 PM in Mercy Memorial Hospital. Jim had been in the hospital since Sunday and in poor health for several years. Jim was born December 21, 1932 in Monroe the son of the late Joseph and Rosie (Thomas) Brewer. Jim attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1950 graduate of Monroe High School. Jim served in the US Army during the Korean War. On July 6, 1955 in Angola, IN Jim married Bette Lou Hollors. Sadly she preceded him in death on June 8, 1990. Jim worked at Monroe Piston Service prior to becoming the owner in 1968. Jim owned and operated the business from 1968 until his retirement in 1994. Jim was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, computers and the technology associated with computers. Above all Jim enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his loving daughters; Michele L. (Itha Otto) Holm of Monroe and Arah R. (Kent) Jocque of Ann Arbor, MI, his cherished grandchildren, Harper and Julian Jocque, Jayme Kraehnke, Dawn Holm, his cherished great granddaughter Rose Brown and his sister Shirley Vanderpool of Monroe. In addition to his wife and parents Jim was preceded in death by his brother Charles Brewer. Visitation for Jim will be held on Sunday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Rick Massingill pastor of North Monroe Street Church of God Mountain Assembly will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where the VFW. Post 1138 will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the Ann Arbor Cat Clinic to benefit their adoption program.
