Irene D. Hunten age 100 of Monroe passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Fountain View of Monroe under the care of Elara Caring Hospice.
Irene was born March 5, 1922 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Sovoda) Kosino. She married Raymond Sharon July 18, 1941 in Napoleon, OH; sadly he passed away on January 8, 1963. She then married Fred Hunten September 28, 1968; he passed away on November 12, 2004.
She was a 1940 graduate of Monroe High School. She was a member of St. Anne Church and Detroit Beach Boat Club where she served as former president of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Irene was an avid bowler at Monroe Sport Center where she participated in many leagues and tournaments. She was inducted into the Monroe Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1995. She and her second husband were members at Monroe Golf and Country Club. She enjoyed golfing and hit a hole in one at Raisin River Golf Course at the age of 71. She also enjoyed tending to the landscaping in her yard and watching birds.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kaye Ott of Sarasota, FL, Judith (Don) Addis of The Villages, FL and Michele (Dave) Nadeau of Monroe; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her two husbands, she is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Arthur Kosino, son-in-law, Leonard (Buck) Ott, great grandson, Nathan Philip Dodd and three stepchildren, Michael (Mick) Hunten, David Hunten and LuAnn Main.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Bacarella Funeral Home 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe with a memorial service at 3 p.m. Deacon Michael Stewart will officiate. Private interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
