Irene P. Bohannon, age 75 of Newport, MI. passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 7:40 AM in Tendercare of Monroe, where she had been since November of 2005. Irene had been in poor health for 1 year. Irene was born December 7, 1931 in Berlin Township, MI the daughter of the late Donald and Edith (Hutchinson) Vint. On September 6, 1952 in Columbus, GA. She married James C. Bohannon. A homemaker, Irene attended Church of God Mountain Assembly. Irene enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, dining out, and traveling. Irene is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, James C. Bohannon, 4 loving children; Samuel C. Bohannon of Grand Rapids, MI, Sharon D. (Fred) Boogren of Monroe, MI, Carolyn M. Thompson of Monroe, MI. and Darlene B. Nicholls of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. 3 sisters; Joyce (George) Douglas of Taylor, MI, Ruth Ann (Paul) Traver of Florida and Alene (Carl) Loy of Knoxville, TN. Also surviving are 12 cherished grandchildren and 10 cherished great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Irene was preceded in death by her daughter Eileen Bohannon, 1 brother Donald Vint, and 2 sisters; Ellie Mae Kendall and Wanda Douglas. Irene's family will receive friends on Saturday from 4-8 PM and Sunday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home. On Monday, March 5, 2007 Irene will lie in state from 9:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 10:00 AM at Church of God Mountain Assembly. The Rev. Rick Massingill pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, MI.
