Ian Walker (Wookie), age 52, of Temperance, MI, passed away with dignity and grace in his home on Thursday, February 20, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones after a valiant battle with cancer and under the care of Heartland Hospice.
Ian was born on January 6, 1973, in Lincoln Park, Michigan. He was the son of Terry and Pamela (Bogan) Walker. He married the love of his life and best friend, Leeann Navarre, in July of 2019, though they knew each other for nearly a lifetime.
He was a 1991 graduate of Mason High School. Ian took on many adventures in his life, like exploring his artistic abilities, ranging from woodworking, creating incredible meals for his family and friends, and living a slow life by the pool with the people he loved most. Ian also had a love of music in which he bonded over with his dad, Terry.
Ian served his country in the US Air Force from 1992 to 1995 with pride. Ian often spoke of his time and fondness of being stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he admired the culture and nature throughout the island.
Ian is survived by his wife and soul mate, Leeann Walker of Temperance; his parents, Terry and Pam Walker; four children, Nicole (Alex) Kinsey, Craig (Janessa) Walker, Mackenzie (Dan) Coleman, and Madison Walker; a sister, Tiffany (Chance) Walker; sister-in-law, Janice (Aaron) Beaudry; brother-in-law, Bob (Nikki) Navarre; four granddaughters, Avery Kinsey, Emersyn Kinsey, Kensington Walker, and Hazel Walker as well as ten nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandma, Ora Mae (Wallace) Bogan, whom he adored; grandparents, Roberta Ruby, Virgil Harvey Walker, Dick Williams, Beulah Garnet Garrison "Tookie", and Dennis William Brogan; niece, Sidney; and Uncle, Randy Bogan.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude for the compassionate care provided by Rogel Cancer Center of U of M; Dr. Desai of Karmanos Cancer Institute; Maumee Ohio; and Heartland Hospice, especially Betsy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 1138, Monroe on Wednesday at 11 a.m. immediately followed by funeral services with Rev. John Carrier, interim pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. In accordance with Ian's wishes, cremation will follow.
