Hubert M. Miller Sr. 83, of Monroe, passed away at 6:15 PM, Monday, July 2, 2007 at Tendercare of Monroe. He had been in poor health since entering the nursing home, December 11, 2003, and seriously ill for 4 days. He was born November 23, 1923 in Crystal, KY to Christopher and Hattie (Roberts) Miller. He served in the US Army during WW II and came to Monroe in 1943 from Crystal, KY. Mr. Miller was employed by Gould National Battery, Monroe for 20 years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and a 14-year volunteer with the Hotline to God, Damascus House; he was also a member of the Monroe Senior Citizens. Survivors include 2 sons, 2 daughters, and several grandchildren. Sadly, 3 brothers, J. Edward, Earl L., and Ray B. Miller, and a sister, Lillian Navarre preceded him in death. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2007, at 11 AM, at Woodland Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Evans C. Bentley, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Memorial gifts in his name may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
