Herman F. Vore, 98 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Magnumcare of Monroe.
Born December 11, 1916 in Monroe, Herman was the son of the late Fred and Amelia (Brey) Vore. Herman was a 1935 graduate of Monroe High School.
On June 26, 1937, Herman married the former Arline Sachs in Ida, Michigan. Sadly, she preceded him in death on March 21, 1982 after 44 years of marriage. On April 30, 1983, he married the former Vreta Taylor in Ottumwa, Iowa. Sadly, she too preceded him in death in 1998.
Herman worked as a self employed dairy farmer for many years. He retired in 1975.
A member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Herman enjoyed walking, where he once walked the Appalachian Trail. Most of all Herman enjoyed time spent with family.
Herman is survived by five loving children: Franklin (Carol) Vore of Monroe, Joel (Ruth) Vore of Monroe, Douglas Vore of Ida, MI, Barbara Ann Taylor of Monroe, and Jacquelyn Kay (Siebert) Meadows of Blissfield, MI, 25 cherished grandchildren, 45 treasured great grandchildren, 12 cherished great great grandchildren, a brother: Allen Vore of Lewisburg, TN, and two sisters: Nola Albers and Shirley Brittain both of Lakeland, FL.
In addition to his parents and spouses, Herman was preceded in death by two sons: Rodney and Frederic Vore, an infant daughter: Madeline Vore, a brother: Marvin Vore and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 pm in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161. On Friday, February 6, 2015 he will lie in state at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church from 10:00 am until funeral services celebrating his life at 11:00 am. The Rev. Larry Loree, Jr., pastor of the church will officiate. He will be interred next to his wife Arline at Gethsemane Cemetery.
