Herbert O. Lanham, age 86 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Brookdale Senior Living.
Born June 15, 1938 in Middlesboro. KY, Herbert was the son of the late Ottis and Margaret (Jenkins) Lanham. He moved to Monroe as a teenager with his family in 1953.
On November 21, 1971, Herbert married Patricia Mae Durham at First Baptist Church in Monroe. Sadly, she preceded him in death on June 15, 2023.
Herbert was employed for 31 years by Jefferson Smurfit Paper Mill as a machine operator. He was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served as an Usher and Deacon. He was known for his great sense of humor and enjoyed time with his family, working in the yard, reading, and traveling,
Herbert is survived by: two nieces, Peggy (Mark) Smith and Cindy (Brian) Yates; nephew, David Durham; grand-nieces, Sonja Carpenter and Stacie Carpenter; grand-nephew, Scott (June) Russell; great-grand-niece, Zoe Carpenter; Godson, Erich (Malinda) Swartz; great-Godson, Jaxson Swartz; and several other great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Herbert was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Lanham; sister, Margaret June (Richard) Wyerman; niece, Lori Pike; and nephews, Steven and Tim Durham.
Family and friends may visit from 4 p.m. until time of funeral at 7 p.m. Friday, Mar. 7th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Rev.'s Kim and Cindy Semran, Co-Pastors of First Baptist Church will officiate. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
