Helen Ann "Sis" Goins, age 90 of Monroe, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Wellspring Lutheran Home.
Born January 18, 1934 in Monroe, Helen was the daughter of the late George and Hazel (Hoffman) May. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1952 and married Jack Goins on Nov. 1, 1953 in Monroe. Together they raised six children. Sadly, he passed away on May 18, 2020.
Sis was a homemaker for most of her life. After raising her children, she and Jack enjoyed traveling and residing in a variety of cities, working various jobs along the way. While living in California, Sis was employed by AlliedSignal, Inc.
In her spare time, Sis enjoyed playing cards with her sisters-in-law and friends, playing penny slots at the casino, knitting, and crafting, especially to give to the trick or treaters at Halloween time.
Helen is survived by her children: David Goins of Jacksonville, FL, Greg (Ann) Goins of Monroe, Kevin Goins of LaSalle, Mark (Karen) Goins of Algonquin, IL, and Beverlee (Mark Kurfess) Blessing of Sylvania, OH; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Goins; two brothers, George May, Jr. and Lloyd May, Sr.; sister, Violet Burghardt; granddaughter, Heidi Kristine Angel; and son-in-law, Randall Blessing
Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3rd at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Helen's nephew, John Asher will officiate followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
