Helen J. Robinson, 86 years of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in The Lutheran Home.
Born September 20, 1927 in Kokomo, IN, Helen was the daughter of the late Cosmos and Elsie (Beck) Braun. On January 21, 1949, Helen married Leland M. "Lee" Robinson at Main Street Methodist Church also in Kokomo. Sadly, Leland preceded her in death on July 3, 2011 after 62 years of marriage. The couple moved to Monroe in 1949.
Helen and Lee owned and operated the Park N Snack in Monroe. Helen was also a wonderful homemaker, caring for her husband and children.
Helen was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Helen was also a member of Monroe Senior Citizens and the Nortel Senior Citizens Bowling League. Helen and Lee enjoyed playing cards, golfing and traveling together. They also spent some winters in Florida and enjoyed meeting new friends and spending time with current friends and family.
Helen is survived by two loving daughters: Karen Sue (Brad) Sortor of Monroe and Peggy Jean (Bill) Kaler of Indianapolis, IN, three cherished grandchildren: Chad, Craig, and Christi Sortor, and four treasured great grandchildren: Ashton, Chase, Maelee and Griffin Sortor.
In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a granddaughter Emily Ann Kaler, and a brother John Braun, who was killed in WWII.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161, where funeral services celebrating Helen's life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Evans Bentley, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
