Obituary

Helen Marlene Cotter, 71 years, of Monroe, Michigan, died on Friday, June 26, 2026, in her home.

Born March 19, 1955, in Monroe, Marlene was the daughter of the late Marlin C. Cotter. She attended Monroe Public Schools.

After working various jobs around Monroe Michigan, Marlene became a conduit inspector at Fermi II. She then moved to Connecticut and then to Mississippi to care for her father. While caring for her father she became the office manager for MG Dyess, Inc., from which she retired.

Marlene enjoyed going to Renaissance festivals with her friend Tommie, jazz music, and preparing delicious meals. Marlene will be remembered as a kind, loving lady with a big heart, who brought happiness and laughter to any gathering. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Marlene is survived by her loving brother, Luther Ray Cotter of Monroe, her two best friends; Zachary Woodruff and Tommie Rimmer and her half-brother, Robert Cotter. In addition to her father, Marlene was preceded in death by a stepsister.

In keeping with Marlene’s wishes, cremation has been held and there will be no services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48162, is assisting Marlene’s family with funeral arrangements.
