Obituary

Helen Marie Chytil, 83 years, of Monroe, MI died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 quietly in her sleep at Lake Park Nursing Facility in Sylvania, OH. She had been ill for the past 5 years.
Born November 11, 1926 in Monroe, Helen was the daughter of the late Andrew and Marie (Fojtik) Horak. Helen was a 1944 graduate of Tecumseh High School and at that time she was awarded its yearly Good Citizenship Award, which she was very proud to obtain.
In 1948 at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church Helen married Louis M. Chytil. He died on April 20, 1996. From that union they had two sons; James (Vickie) Chytil of Monroe and Gary (Jolene) Chytil of St. Charles, MO. Helen was very proud of her five granddaughters; Elizabeth (Michael) Vaughn, Julia (Brian) Hayes, Rachel Chytil, Andrea Chytil and Ashley (Dustin) Pfluger and her two great grandsons; Harrison and Sterling Vaughn. Also surviving is her sister Maryann (Eugene) Moore of Monroe, her brother in law Charles Walters of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Rose Walters and her brother Albert (Claudine) Horak.
She loved to garden and was able to name almost every type of flower or bush when asked. Starting new shoots of flowers or trees to give her family and friends was something she enjoyed. She would also make beautiful floral centerpieces for any function she attended. She loved to dance and listen to Czech music. Helen was a former member of the VFW Post #1138 Ladies Auxiliary.
Helen worked at La-Z-Boy as a sewer for 39 years until her retirement in 1989.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggestion to the VFW Post 1138 or the Alzheimer's Association.
