Helen Chakmakian, 94 years, of Monroe, Michigan, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 7, 2025 in Monroe surrounded by her family.
Born October 22, 1931 in Detroit, Helen was the daughter of the late Harry and Victoria (Haktsian) Nalbandian. She was a 1949 graduate of Southwestern High School in Detroit. She attended Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn.
She married Maj. George E. Chakmakian in Dearborn. Sadly, he preceded her in death on March 15, 1961.
Helen worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Aunt Mid's Produce Company in Detroit. She retired in 1996.
Helen enjoyed spending time with family. She will be missed.
Helen is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Edward G. and Michele Chakmakian of Monroe, two cherished grandchildren: Elyse M. (Dion) Holmes and Edward G. Chakmakian, II, and two cherished great grandchildren: Brielle and Everly.
In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law: Richard and Barbara Nalbandian.
There will be no public visitation or services. Private interment services will be held at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit.
