Helen E. Alexin, age 88, of Monroe, MI passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 12:28 AM at Mercy Memorial Hospital. Helen had been in poor health for several months. Helen was born November 12, 1919 in Brownsville, PA, the daughter of the late Stephen and Catherine (Mayher) Kruper. Helen was a graduate of Brownsville High School in Brownsville, PA. On December 4, 1943 Helen married Joseph F. Alexin in Brownsville. Sadly Joseph preceded her in death on January 9, 1990. Helen moved to Monroe in 2000 and was a resident of Marian Place. Along with being a consummate homemaker Helen was a skilled seamstress working for several department stores in Pittsburgh, PA. Helen was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing and was a devoted grandmother to her two granddaughters Mallory and Kelsey. Helen is survived by her beloved son and daughter in law Barry J. and Sara Alexin of Monroe, MI, her two cherished granddaughters Mallory and Kelsey Alexin of Monroe, MI and her sister Florence Soltis of Stow, OH. In addition to her husband and parents Helen was preceded in death by her daughter Gail Alexin and several brothers and sisters. Visitation for Helen will be held on Friday from 3-8 PM in the Bacarella funeral home where Sr. Dorothy Krupp will conduct a Rosary service at 4:00 PM. On Saturday, January 19, 2008 Helen will lie in state at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at which time a Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life will be held.
