Obituary

Helen I. Abrams, age 82 of Monroe, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023.
Helen was born in Monroe on July 18, 1940 to the late Charles and Mattie (Garrett) Taylor. She attended Monroe Public Schools and married Earl T. Abrams on April 27, 1957 in Monroe. Together they raised six children. He preceded Helen in death on October 14, 2001.
Helen embraced being a homemaker, raising her kids, feeding the squirrels and birds in her back yard, ceramic painting, and crocheting. She was for several years the faithful secretary at the former Monroe Gospel Mission Church.
Helen is survived by her children, David Abrams, Charles Abrams, Benjamin Abrams, Donald (Frances) Abrams, and Helen (Joe) Proffitt, all of Monroe; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Pidcock; brother, Charles Taylor; two sisters, Verta Ramsay and Annabella Patterfritz.
Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3rd at Bacarella Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4th. Helen's grandson-in-law, Tyler Ziemer will officiate followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
