Heather M. Alfred, age 55 of Monroe, MI, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born February 20, 1970 in Monroe, Heather was the daughter of Robert and Jacqueline (Chinavare) Tomlinson. She attended St. Charles Elementary School and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1988. She then attended Jackson Community College and Owens Community College and became a Radiation Therapist.
Heather was employed by Miro Cancer Center for approximately 12 years before entering the home health care field. She dedicated her remaining work years caring for others until her own health could no longer sustain her career.
Heather was an active volunteer for various cancer support groups. She had a passion for helping others. She was a naturally caring individual, a social butterfly, and fun person to be around.
On April 26, 2013, during a destination wedding ceremony, Heather married Gerald W. Alfred in Jamaica.
Heather is survived by her husband Jerry; mother, Jackie Chinavare of Newport, MI; 2 daughters, Kennedi Kane of Monroe, MI and McKenzie Kane of Detroit, MI; 2 step children, Taylor (Zack) Hayslett of Myrtle Beach, SC and Marah (Jordan) Halmers of Virginia Beach, VA; 2 siblings, Tracy (Bob) Bathgate of Ocqueoc, MI and Walker (Rachel) Tomlinson of Fairview, TN; 3 step siblings, Kevin (Jessica) Chinavare of Southgate, MI, Kenneth (Carla) Chinavare of Newport, MI, and Keith (Paula) Chinavare of Riverview, MI; 2 grandchildren, Randie Pierce and Kylo Duffin; and special nephew, Jake Carlisle of S. Rockwood, MI.
Heather was preceded in death by her father, Robert Tomlinson, step-father, Richard Chinavare, and brother, Shane Tomlinson.
Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. until time of funeral at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Deacon Michael Stewart will officiate. Private burial will be held at St. Charles Cemetery in Newport.
