Hattie M. (Doll) Hobson, age 86 of Monroe, passed away at 5:00 AM, Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe. She was born in Dancy, Alabama on March 2, 1922 to Alonzo and Myra (Williams) Pippens. She married Leo Hobson in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He passed away in 1984. Hattie loved her church – the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, enjoyed sewing, cooking, shopping and friends and being with all her family. She came to Monroe in 1985 from Tuscaloosa following her husbands passing. She is survived by two loving children: a son Charles (Gladys) Hobson of Southfield, Michigan and a daughter Myra (Frank) Small of Monroe; six grandchildren: Charles Hobson Jr, Kelly Hobson, Patricia Ward, Cathy Lavender, Frank Small, Regina Small; and the following great and great-great grandchildren: Aaron Lavender, Leslie Lavender, Nicole Lavender, Athena Lavender, Shannon Ward, Jacara Bruce, Jacala Ward, Christina Hobson, Charles Hobson III, Rae-Jon Lavender, Jacques Ward, AJ Lavender, Antanaja Crittenden, Chazara Small, Ziyon small, Dennis Burress, Razaria Lavender, Domona Davis, Shantell Ward ,Antwon Ward II, Mary Small, Naomi Small, Francesca Small, Tyshawn Moore and Frank Small III. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers John W. Pippens and Jackson Pippens, three sisters Caroline Smoot, Bessie Pippens, Lucille Madison. Friends may call during family hour Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 12 Noon until until her Homegoing Service at 1:00 PM at the Second Missionary Baptist Church, 501 Clark Street, Monroe. Officiating will be Rev. Allen Overton. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle. Memorials may be made to her church.
