Obituary

Gwendolyn L. Hatcher, 95 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe.
Born January 21, 1919 in Monroe, Gwen was the daughter of the late J. Grover and Bessie (Derickson) Foster.
On November 30, 1946, Gwen married Clyde Kiefer in Monroe, after his death in 1962, Gwen then married Gilbert Hatcher in Monroe. Sadly he too preceded her in death on January 30, 1970.
Gwen worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant during WWII. She then went on to work in the cafeteria for Consolidated Paper Company's North Side Plant, Leake Stamping and Ford Motor Company, from which she retired in March of 1984.
Gwen attended Calvary United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, crossword puzzles and playing card games. More than anything Gwen loved time spent with her family.
Gwen is survived by eight loving children: Dennis R. (Karen) Foster, Larry D. Kiefer, Dorothy J. Dusseau, Patrice L. (Clay) Berry, Janet L. (Rev. Curtis) Faunce, Joyce E. Kiefer, Cynthia K. (John) Riley and Paula M. (Bill) Doster all of Monroe, 26 cherished grandchildren, 56 treasured great grandchildren and four treasured great great grandchildren, a brother: Chuck Foster of Monroe, three step children: Betty Whitaker of TN, Harold (Veronica) Hatcher of Erie, Mi, and Ron (Marilyn) Hatcher of Temperance, MI, a sister in law: Josephine Foster of Monroe, a God Son: Robert A. (Dawn) Foster and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Gwen was preceded in death by a great granddaughter: MacKenzie Hassell, two sisters: Henrietta Kiefer and Maxine Corne, and a brother: Leon Foster.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-7 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161, where funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Curtis Faunce, Gwen's son in law, and pastor at Monroe Outreach Assemblies of God along with Rev. Ross Corne will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
