Gwenda Lynn Pierce, age 84, of Monroe, passed away Friday September 15, 2023 at Fountain View of Monroe.
Gwenda was born July 2, 1939 in New Tazewell, TN; she was the daughter of Charles and Hazel Minton (McBee). Her family moved to Monroe in 1944. She was married to Eddie D. Pierce June 30, 1955 in the Clark Street Baptist Church of Monroe; sadly she was preceded in death by Eddie on November 17, 2014.
Gwenda worked for La-Z-Boy for 30 years before retiring in 2002.
She enjoyed her home and was regularly seen gardening and maintaining her yard. A devote Christian woman who enjoyed attending church services through out the Christian community. She cherished her family and strove to maintain the family unity with large holiday gatherings. She also enjoyed traveling with Eddie in companionship with family members. Her family meant everything to her and loved the time she spent with her sons, their families and her extended family.
She is survived by her four sons, Randy (Kim) Pierce of Temperance, Eddie D. (Annamae) Pierce of White Lake, MI, Kerry G. (Jeanna) Pierce of Monroe and Kenneth (Pamela Madin) Pierce of Monroe; two sisters, Barbara Russell of Monroe and Karen (Darrell) Bezeau of Monroe. She will also be missed by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Blauma Langford.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe where a time of family sharing will begin at 2 p.m. that day. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America or a charity of the donor's choice.
