Guadalupe "Lupe" Rios, age 72 of Monroe, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born June 1, 1949 in Middleton, Michigan, Lupe was the son of the late Ramiro and Lidia (Marroquin) Rios. He married Maria Yolanda Vasquez on July 20, 1968 in Donna, Texas. Together they raised three children.
Lupe worked for Ford Motor Company at the Monroe Stamping Plant as an assembler and welder. He retired in 2007 after 38 years of employment.
Lupe was a member of UAW Local 723 and St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. He was previously a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a member of its Knights of St. Joseph. He liked to volunteer at his former parish and was active in the local God Works! Program.
Lupe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yolanda Rios; his children, Julian (Betsy) Rios, Teresa (Scott) Reaume and Daniel (Brandi) Rios, all of Monroe; eight siblings: Ramiro Rios, Jr. of TX, Susana (Juan) Salinas of TX, Reynaldo (Elida) Rios of TX, Rodolfo (Joyce) Rios of TX, Rosalinda Smith of DE, Ricardo (Cathy) Rios of DE, Anna (Keith) Whitney of DE, and Odelia Rios of TX; four grandchildren: Martin (Kimberlee) Rios, Noah Rios, Adalynn Rios, and Gabriel Rios; two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Magnolia Rios; and two sisters-in-law, Mary and Olga Rios.
In addition to his parents, Lupe was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jose Luis, Arturo and Rene Rios; sister-in-law, Yolanda Rios; and brothers-in-law, Larry Smith and Rick Garza.
Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30th at Bacarella Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Lupe will lie in state at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Giancarlo Ghezzi followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
