Gregory Randall "Randy"
Stanifer
Jul 19, 1959 — Jul 1, 2026
Gregory Randall (Randy) Stanifer age 66 of Gladwin, Michigan, formerly of Ida, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Born on July 19, 1959 and raised in Monroe, MI, Randy spent his life building not only things with his hands, but also lasting relationships and a legacy of service. After retirement, he and his beloved wife Kathy made their home in Gladwin MI, where he continued to enjoy the life he loved.
Randy was a proud member of Local 671 Plumbers and Pipefitters, dedicating many years of hard work and craftsmanship to his trade, Life member of the Monroe County Rod & Gun Club, Fraternal Order of Eagle’s 3541 and Moose Lodge 2235, both in Harrison, MI. He also served his community with honor for more than 20 years as a member of the Ida Volunteer Fire Department. Whether on the job, or helping a friend or neighbor, Randy was always willing to lend a hand.
An avid hunter who took pride in a family-owned Camp Wha-Who Hunt Club, and a man who never sat still, Randy was happiest when he had a project to work on. He was known for his incredible work ethic and his belief that there was always something that needed to be built, fixed, or improved. Relaxing simply wasn't in his nature.
To those who knew him, Randy was much more than a hardworking man. He was a mentor, a trusted friend, and someone people naturally looked up to. He had a remarkable ability to listen without judgment and always seemed to have the right advice at the right time. His strength, wisdom, kindness, and sense of responsibility left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all else, Randy was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. To his family, he was a hero—the kind of man whose love was steady, whose presence was comforting, and whose example will continue to guide them long after his passing.
Randy leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and countless friends, coworkers, and past fellow firefighters whose lives were made better by knowing him. He is survived by his wife Kathy; daughter, Krystle (Kirk) Stanifer; mother, Josephine Stanifer; brothers, Rick (Pam) Stanifer and Homer (Trish) Stanifer; sister, Brenda (Ron) Montri; grandson, Walter Stanifer; step-grandchildren, Jeremiah Frederick, Kaitlen (Billy) Frederick, and Kerstin (Weston) Redmond; 5 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Max.
Sadly, Randy was recently preceded in death by his son Curtis on May 21, 2026, his father, Earl Stanifer, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Mildred Guthrie.
While his family mourns the loss of an extraordinary man, they find comfort in the memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Cremation arrangements were provided by Bacarella Funeral Home. A memorial celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date.
