Gregory Dee Kegerreis, age 58, of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Promedica Monroe Region Hospital's Emergency Room.
Greg was born October 9, 1965 in Monroe, he was the son of Donald Dee and Patricia Jean (Kitzler) Kegerreis. He was married to Wendy K. Haines, they spent 23 wonderful years together as a couple were married on September 3, 2010.
He had been a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he was baptized, confirmed and educated. He was a 1984 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School.
He worked for many years as a machinist and then as a custodian for Monroe Public School at the High School, Middle School and Waterloo Elementary.
Greg enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing when the weather was warm, in the colder months he liked to draw and pursued more artistic activities. He also loved to watch football, especially Michigan and the Detroit Lions.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy; his parents, Donald and Patricia Kegerreis of Monroe, two sons, Brett (Olivia) Kegerreis of Grand Rapids, Evan (Kate Tydeman) Reaume of Toledo; three stepchildren, Michelle (David) Glaser of Monroe, Christy (John) Prokurat of Dearborn Hgts. and Daniel (Reghan) Verellen) Gallup of Monroe; a brother, Scott (Allyson) Kegerreis of Monroe; his one and only grandson Dutton and several step grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 12 to 3 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, with funeral services beginning at 3 p.m. Rev. Michael A. Anagbogu, associate pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
The family suggest memorial contributions in Greg's memory be made to the Humane Society of Monroe County.
