Obituary

Glenn Paris Keck, age 82 of Monroe, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor.
Born November 18, 1940 in Monroe, Glenn was the son of the late Fred and Pearl (Maddox) Keck. He attended Monroe Public Schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country from July 1, 1959 until being honorably discharged on October 31, 1982, obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant. While serving during the Vietnam War, Glenn was involved in Vietnam Counteroffensive Campaign Phases II, III, and IIV. Among his many citations, he earned the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal, 3 Overseas Service Bars, Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and 7 Good Conduct Medals.
As a civilian, Glenn worked for the U.S. Government for five years, Roadway for ten years, and then delivering produce for local farmers for several years. He was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and a life member of Brest Bay Sportsman Gun Club in Newport.
Glenn is survived by two daughters, Diane Hayes of Ceresco, MI and Sharon (Gary Simmons) of Athens, WI; brother, Blaine (Marie) Keck of Delta, OH; three grandchildren: Anthony (Rachel) Hayes, Nicholas (Sierra) Simmons, and Rachael Simmons; seven great-grandchildren: Fox, Copper, Ryder, Saoirse, River, Ellie, and Ava; two step-sons, Mark Tinnel and Allen (Lee Ann) Tinnel, both of Monroe.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his companion of 28 years, Bobbie Tinnel; son, Glenn Paris Keck, Jr.; four brothers, John, Lloyd, Sherman, and James Keck; and former wife of 20 years, Brigitte Keck.
Family and friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Mar. 24th at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 25th. Rev. Dave Arnold, Missions Pastor at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by Monroe VFW Post 1138.
