Giacomo "Jack" Furnari, age 76, of Monroe, MI passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Toledo Hospital in Toledo, OH. Jack was born September 13, 1932 in Borgetto, Sicily, the son of the late Francesco and Angela Furnari. On April 27, 1959 in Borgetto Jack married his beloved wife the former Lucia Arcabascio. Jack and his family moved to Monroe from Borgetto in 1970. Jack worked for Ford Motor Company in Monroe for 10 years until his retirement in 1981. Jack was a Member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe. Jack enjoyed spending his time working in his yard. Most of all Jack enjoyed his family. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Lucia, his 3 loving children; Angela M. (Sam) Grippi of Monroe, Frank (Paula) Furnari of Alma, MI and Vito (Amy) Furnari of Surfside Beach, SC, 7 cherished grandchildren; Mary, Joe, Jack, Francesco, Jack, Jacob, and Christopher, 1 treasured great grandchild Alex, 3 brothers; Leonard (Ann) Furnari of Monroe, Frank (Mary Ann) Furnari of Monroe and Joseph (Catherine) Furnari of New York, NY, and 1 sister; Nunzia "Nancy" Furnari of Carleton, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home where Sister Dorothy Krupp will hold a scripture service at 4:00 PM. On Monday, November 24, 2008 he will lie in state at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life at 10:00 AM. Fr. Stephen Vileo pastor of the church will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
