Gertrude McNair, age 89, a resident of Monroe, MI since 1947, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 10:43 PM surrounded by her loving family. She had been in declining health for the past 4 months. Gertrude was born December 4, 1919 in Sumrall, MS the daughter of the late Ernest and Annie Bell (Free) McDonald. On September 25, 1937, Gertrude married Johnie L. McNair in Bogalusa, LA. Sadly, he preceded her in death on January 14, 1987. Gertrude was a homemaker and a member of Church Of God In Christ. Gertrude is survived by her beloved daughter and son in law Annie Nell and Charles Toles of Monroe, MI, 3 cherished grandchildren and 9 treasured great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Gertrude was preceded in death by her son John McNair Jr. and a grandson Daryl Fisher. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 12:00 noon in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, until funeral services celebrating her life at 1:00 PM. Pastor Jack L. Branham of Monroe Gospel Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
