Gertrude E. Bolton, 81, of Monroe, died at 4:43 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in the Mercy Memorial Hospital where she had been since Sunday. She was born October 16, 1925 in Monroe to Floran and Vandelena (Mexico) Barbier, a lifetime resident of Monroe, she was married to James Everett Bolton May 19, 1947 in Monroe. Sadly, he preceded her in death, October 7, 1994. A homemaker, she had attended the First Church of God, enjoyed playing bingo and slots, and trips to Las Vegas. She is survived by a son, Gary W. of Monroe, 3 daughters, Brenda (Thomas) Reip of Las Vegas, Patricia (Kenneth) Reip of Gainesville, GA, and Linda (Buck) Jennings of Monroe, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen M. Bolton, an infant son, Dennis, a son, James D. Bolton, 2 brothers, Raymond Barber and Albert "Sam" Barbier, and 2 sisters, Ida Arnold and Blanche Rogers. Friends may call 1-8 PM Sunday at the Bacarella Funeral Home, where services will be held Monday at 1 PM. The Rev. Lawrence E. Detruf will officiate and burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.
