Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Miller, 71 years of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 7, 2010.
Jerry was born in Toledo, OH on May 29, 1939 the son of the late Leo Peter and Mary C. (Moran) Miller. Jerry's family moved to Luna Pier when Jerry was a child. Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School.
On April 6, 1960 Jerry married his beloved wife the former Carol Ann Ammann in Erie, MI.
Jerry served his country proudly and honorably for 81/2 years in the US Navy specializing in the nuclear power program.
Jerry was employed as an Industrial Electrician for North Star Steel. Jerry began working there before the plant opened until his retirement in 2001. Jerry along with his wife Carol Ann also owned and operated Miller's Cider Mill in Monroe.
Jerry was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served on church council and as an usher and the Masonic Lodge #27 F&AM. A master gardener, Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed hunting, boating and fishing, specifically fly fishing where he enjoyed tying his own flies.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Carol Ann, 3 loving children; Eric J. (Sheila) Miller of Zionsville, IN, Cynthia L. Cousino of Monroe and Rebecca L. (Jonathan) Whitcomb of Zionsville, IN, 2 brothers; his twin, Lawrence (Carole) Miller of West Palm Beach, FL and Thomas (Elizabeth) Miller of Grand Blanc, MI a sister; Marilyn (Robert) Schnapp of Toledo, OH, 11 cherished grandchildren and 2 treasured great grandchild.
In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by 1 brother Jimmy Miller.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe. On Saturday, December 11, 2010 he will lie in state at Christ Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating his life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Dennis Bux, pastor of the church will officiate.
