Gerald L. Eby, age 81 of Woodhaven, MI, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025 at Rivergate Terrace, Riverview, MI.
Born May 31, 1943 in Maybee, MI, Jerry was the son of the late Walter and Cleata (Straub) Eby. He graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School in 1961.
On April 4, 1964, Jerry married Kathleen S. Henry at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee and promptly moved to Chicago, IL. He earned an associate degree from DeVry University in Chicago and had a long career in the electronics industry. As a supply buyer, his career spanned over 40 years with several companies. During his life and after retiring, his hobbies included golfing, bowling, playing cards, visiting casinos, and last but not least, spending time with his granddaughters.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathy Eby; two sons: Jerry (Debbie) Eby of Roselle, IL and Jim (Irene) Eby of Thompson Station, TN; four siblings: Angela (Ted) Sicha of Perrysburg, OH, John (Leslie) Eby of Monroe, Patricia (Wes) Carroll of Maybee, MI, and Marcia (Kevin Serpa) Hancock of Ledyard , CT; three granddaughters: Alyssa, Sydney, and Sarah Eby; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Constance and Miklos Lukacs.
Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. A local celebration of Jerry's life will be held at a later date.
