Obituary

Gerald W. Bowling, Sr., 85 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2015 in his home.
Born July 6, 1930 in Fonde, KY, Jerry was the son of the late Robert S. and Luticia (Thompson) Bowling. Jerry served his country honorably and proudly as a United States Marine.
On September 28, 1950 Jerry married his beloved wife the former Elizabeth Jones at his parents' home in Fonde, KY.
Jerry was employed as a Die Cast Operator for Ford Motor Company at the Rawsonville Plant for 34 years. He retired in 1984.
Jerry was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Monroe. He was a former member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of a quartet and sang in the choir. Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories. Most of all Jerry loved time spent with family.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Elizabeth, two loving children: Gerald W. (Leah) Bowling, Jr. of Corryton, TN and Rosemary Lenz of Dundee, MI, a sister: Billie Buckner of Maryville, TN, four cherished grandsons: Gerald "Jeb" W. Bowling, III, Ajay Cousino, Alex Lenz and Jared Bowling, and four treasured great grandchildren: Ben, Nick, Chelsey, and Jacob.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161 beginning 4:00 PM where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors at 7:00 PM. Immediately following the military service, the Rev. Bob Wood, pastor of Heritage Baptist Church, will officiate the funeral service celebrating Jerry's life.
Private entombment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage Baptist Church Building Fund or Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
