George F. Willets Sr., 97 years, of Monroe, MI passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in Monroe.
Born May 19, 1913 in Norwalk, CT, George was the son of the late Frank James and Elsie (Tooker) Willets.
On May 8, 1937 in Bridgeport, CT George married his beloved wife the former Shirley E. Etter. They along with their daughter Lynn moved to Monroe from North Hollywood, CA in August of 2005.
George held several positions at various companies throughout the country. He worked for Hemco Plastics, Lycoming Aircraft, Waterbury Lock, Hicky Taxi. George also worked as a security guard, and a repairman for Kirby Vacuums. He also played Santa Claus in an edition of Wheels Car Magazine.
George is survived by his beloved wife of over 73 years, Shirley, 4 loving children; Lynn C. Willets of Monroe, George F. Willets Jr. of Palm Springs, CA, Margaret (Donald) Borrmann of Erie, MI and Valerie (Bruce) Raynor Sr. of Hemet, CA, 2 treasured grandchildren, 6 cherished great grandchildren and 1 cherished great great grandchild. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 5 brothers.
In keeping with George's wishes there will be no visitation or viewing and cremation will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 1138 in Monroe.
The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd, in Monroe is assisting with funeral arrangements.
