George L. Starr, age 84, of Monroe, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 under the care of Elara Hospice.
George was born April 8, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio. He was the son of Creal B. and Bernice (Turner) Starr.
He was a 1958 graduate of Bedford High School. George was a jack of all trades and enjoyed making stain glass, jewelry, belt buckles and knives.
George served in the US Airforce from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1962.
He worked as an electrician for the Jeep plant in Toledo until his retirement in 2003.
He is survived by three children, Tim (Theresa) Starr of Pioneer, OH, Georgia (Steven) Lohmeyer of Toledo and Tom Starr of Toledo; longtime companion, Joann Evans and six grandchildren, Michelle, Hailee, Michael, Nanci, Tommy and Autumn.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother John and sister, Jean.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until funeral services at 12:30 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home. Rev. Rick Massingill will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
