George A. Lechy Jr. age 84 of Monroe, MI. passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2006 in his home at 4:35 PM. George had been in poor health for 1 year. George was born September 24, 1922 in McKeesport, PA. the son of the late George A. and Mabel A. (Kiehl) Lechy Sr. The family moved to Monroe in 1929 from McKeesport. On June 19, 1945 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Raisinville Township George married Allene H. Weilnau. George worked as a clerk and manager for Monroe Beer Cooler for 12 years. George then went to General Motors – Toledo Powertrain where he worked as a press operator for 25 years retiring on March 1, 1986. George was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe where he served as an usher. George was a member of the Monroe Rod and Gun Club where he served on the board as the Property Chairman. George was also a member of Monroe Senior Citizens and UAW Local 14 Retired Senior Citizens in Toledo. George is survived by his beloved wife Allene, 2 loving children; George A. (Joyce) Lechy III of Monroe, MI and Kathleen S. (Thomas) Beaudrie of South Rockwood, MI. 5 cherished grandchildren and 7 cherished great grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by 2 brothers James S. and Robert M. Lechy. Visitation for George will be held on Thursday from 1-9 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home. On Friday, December 1, 2006 he will lie in state from 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe where funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Gary Tryggestad and the Rev. Ross Ulrich pastors of the Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.
