George Freeman, 57 years, of Erie, MI passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 5:45 AM in his home with his loving family at his bedside. George was born August 21, 1952 in Prestonsburg, KY, the son of Dallas and Marcelline (King) Freeman. George was a 1970 graduate of Prestonsburg High School. On April 30, 1975 in Clintwood, VA George married his beloved wife the former Kathy M. Roberts. George began working for Ford Motor Company in 1978 as a welder at the Wayne Assembly Plant where he worked until his retirement as an inspector in 2003. George attended Luna Pier Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, woodworking, classic cars and gardening. Most of all, George enjoyed his family. George is survived by his beloved wife Kathy and their cherished son John T. Freeman, his loving father Dallas of Auxier, KY, 4 sisters; Lillian Smiderle of Irving, TX, Rosalie Freeman, Libby Greer and Teresa Moore all of Lexington, KY, his mother in law Marcella Wagner of Monroe and a host of nieces and nephews. Sadly he was preceded in death by his mother on August 21, 2009. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Kenneth Steffes pastor of Luna Pier Baptist Church will officiate. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe or to the National Kidney Foundation.
