Geoffrey Clay Wykes, age 43 of St. Louis, MO, formerly of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 in his home due to natural causes.
Born August 23, 1982 in Sylvania, OH, Geoff was the son of Gerald and Debora (Clay) Wykes. He attended Raisinville Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary Catholic Central High School, class of 2000. During high school, Geoff was involved with the Monroe Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol.
After high school, Geoff enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from July 5, 2000 until being honorably discharged on November 4, 2005. He was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 1 Device. While serving in the military, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by working in imagery analysis. After serving his country, he studied at the University of Toledo. He further lived out this dream career by becoming an Imagery Analyst at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency for the Department of Defense, a position he held from January 19, 2010 until his death.
On June 13, 2015, Geoff married LeAnn Rickard in St. Louis, MO.
A devout Catholic, Geoff was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church in St. Louis. He was a voracious reader and continual autodidact whose desire to learn about the world was boundless. He enjoyed discussing politics and other topics, and he was also an avid gamer. His main priorities in life, however, were his career and his daughter.
Geoff is survived by his parents, Gerry and Debbie Wykes; his daughter Shiera Wykes; step-sons, Kelsey and Trevor; and two siblings, Dr. James (Cecilia) Wykes and Katelyn Gilbert.
Geoff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leslie and Helen Wykes, and James and Nancy Clay.
Family and friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 21st at Bacarella Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Geoff will lie in state at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Michael Anagbogu. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors provided by Monroe VFW Post 1138.
Memorial donations are suggested to Heartbeat of Monroe or Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County.
