Gail Ann Heusman (Hoffman), 76 years, of Newport MI, passed away on Monday January 13th, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 11, 1948, in Monroe, MI, Gail was the daughter of Elmer "Bud" and Myra (Fuerstenberg) Hoffman. She was a 1966 graduate of Ida High School. On June 20th 1969 she married the love of her life Kenneth Heusman in Monroe MI.
She began her teaching career at Wayne Westland School, continued at Carleton Country Day School, and retired from Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic School.
Gail loved spending time with her family. She was at every sporting event for her children and grandchildren. She would drop everything to make them their favorite meal. She made many memories with them at the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. She shared her love of baking and crafting with her family. She was known for crocheting afghans and many other items for her family and close friends. She loved gardening, canning, birdwatching, and doing puzzles.
She spent many years working as a Superintendent at the Monroe County Fair, following in her mother's footsteps. She had been recognized for 25 years of service to the fair. Her daughter and granddaughters are continuing this legacy.
She is survived by her loving husband Ken, children Todd (Carmen) Heusman, Kristi Liechty; sister, Kris (Michael) Raudio; brother, Jody (Lisa) Hoffman; grandchildren, Michael Heusman, Hanna and Kayla Liechty, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Elmer, mother Myra, brother John Hoffman and sister-in-law Deanna Hoffman.
Family and Friends may pay their respects at the Baccarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. Monroe, MI, Thursday January 16, 2025 from 2 to 8 p.m. She will lie instate at Zion Lutheran Church Monroe, MI, Friday January 17, 2025 from 11a.m. until the service at 12 p.m. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, later in the afternoon.
