Freena Marie Ciacelli, 84 years, of Monroe, Michigan, our beloved mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 7:31 pm at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital in the I.C.U. in Monroe, Michigan.
Born January 13, 1931 in Monroe, Freena was the daughter of the late Floyd and Flossie (Woods) Edmondson. She attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1948 graduate of Monroe High School.
On July 2, 1952 Freena married her beloved husband Victor H. Ciacelli in Maryland. Sadly, he preceded her in death on May 26, 1996 after 43 years of marriage.
Freena was employed by Monroe Scrap Company as a secretary for 49 years from which she retired in 1996. She was also a wonderful homemaker.
Family, friends, and all who knew her will forever remember Freena for her delicious cooking and hosting of weekly, Sunday spaghetti dinners where all were welcome, family or friends. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sending cards to everyone she knew for just about any and every occasion. Most of all Freena enjoyed time spent with family, especially her great grandchildren.
Freena is survived by three loving daughters: Vicki L. Price, Linda C. (Tom) Raymond and Tina M. Ciacelli, all of Monroe, eight cherished grandchildren: Adam (Nichole) Price, Kevin Price, Julie (Russ) Emerson, Joshua Raymond, Anna Raymond, Mandi (Scott) Ciacelli – Brown, Megan (Christopher) Rennert, and Nathan J. Harris, five treasured great grandchildren: Ashton, Stella, Tessa, Kendall, and Logan, two sisters: Francella "Bea" (William) Guyor of Santa Barbara, CA, and Fontella (David "Ralph") Lyke of Monroe, a brother-in-law: P.J. Monday of Monroe and two sisters-in-law: Italia Sutton, and Joann Ciacelli both of Monroe.
In addition to her parents and husband, Freena was preceded in death by two sisters: Floretta Monday and Frankie Edmondson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 pm in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161 where funeral services celebrating her life will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
